Fridays are for sharing soul food – little bits and pieces that have encouraged or inspired me during the week…
So we’re on vacation in Florida as I write this and there is just so much goodness to soak up that I don’t even mind it that Minneapolis is breaking records this week for unprecedented warmth. There is gobs of loveliness to go around.
This first story…oh my gosh oh my gosh! Love
And another favorite from Instagram, especially for my Mama friends…
And…One of the amazing organizations that inspires me is Preemptive Love and its founders, Jeremy and Jessica Courtney.
Preemptive Love is a global movement of peacemakers changing the way we engage the world’s most polarizing conflicts by confronting fear with acts of love.
Check out this brilliant idea for empowering refugees and order yours now for Mother’s Day!
And…Vacation is for books, right?
I finished reading The Colors of Goodbye by September Vaudrey basically in one sitting, so clearly I was drawn in and found it compelling. All 52 reviews on Amazon are 5 star, however if you’re looking for a book with deep spiritual insights about loss this probably is not it. But if you’re looking for a memoir that allows you to peek over the shoulder of someone sharing authentically about the tragedy of losing their teenage daughter and the different ways their family came to accept it, check it out. This is more of a “me too” book than a “how to” book.
I also finished a great mystery/thriller if that’s your thing…
Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben
This is part of the description: Former special ops pilot Maya, home from the war, sees an unthinkable image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her two-year-old daughter playing with Maya’s husband, Joe—who was brutally murdered two weeks earlier.
And…As I’ve said often, I think husband John is just the best – super wise and patient to my roller coaster emoji-ful self. Evidence of his wonderfulness is here in an interview he did for Christianity Today on When They’re Really Mad at You – how to follow Jesus while dodging bullets.
And lastly, in case you’re not on Instagram of FB, my favorite quote of the week:
What’s delighted you this week? I’d love to hear!
Thanks for this! Isn’t vacation wonderful. Enjoy!
Yes! And thanks for all your good book recommendations!
